Shopify MCP Integration
Connect Shopify to your AI agents through Weldable.
Weldable's Shopify MCP integration gives your AI agents direct access to your store's products, orders, customers, and inventory through natural language. Shopify has gone all-in on MCP with its Winter 2026 Editions, launching both a Storefront MCP and Dev MCP server. Weldable builds on this momentum by combining Shopify with your other connected services in multi-step workflows.
With agentic commerce now a reality, including Shopify and Google's joint Universal Commerce Protocol announced in March 2026, the ability to manage your store through AI agents is no longer experimental. It is the direction the entire platform is heading.
Use cases
Inventory monitoring and restocking alerts
Your agent checks inventory levels across your catalog and flags products that have dropped below a threshold you set. It pulls the current stock count, compares it against your minimum, and posts a summary to Slack with product names, SKUs, and remaining units. Pair this with a scheduled workflow to run the check every morning before your team starts work.
Bulk product updates from spreadsheets
Upload pricing changes or new product descriptions to a Google Sheet, and your agent reads the data, matches each row to the correct Shopify product by SKU, and applies the updates. This eliminates the manual copy-paste cycle when you need to update dozens of products at once, especially during seasonal promotions or supplier price changes.
Order fulfillment tracking
Your agent monitors recent orders and checks fulfillment status. When an order ships, it pulls the tracking number and sends a personalized update to the customer via Gmail or posts a notification to your team's Slack channel. For high-value orders, it can flag them for manual review before fulfillment proceeds.
Customer segment reporting
Your agent queries your customer list, segments by total spend or order count, and generates a breakdown of your top buyers. It formats the results into a Google Doc or posts a digest to Slack. Run this monthly to track how your customer base is evolving without building custom analytics dashboards.
Multi-channel product syndication
When you add a new product to Shopify, your agent can pull the listing details and format them for other channels. It grabs the title, description, images, and pricing, then adapts the content for your WordPress blog, social media posts, or email campaigns through other Weldable integrations.
How it works
Connect your Shopify store through OAuth. Weldable requests the specific API scopes your workflows need: product read and write for catalog management, order read for fulfillment tracking, and customer read for reporting. Tokens refresh automatically in the background.
Once connected, describe what you want in plain English. Say "show me all products with less than 10 units in stock" and Weldable translates that into the correct Shopify API call, handles pagination if your catalog is large, and returns the results. Your agent can chain actions across integrations: pull data from Shopify, process it, and push results to Slack, Google Sheets, or Gmail.
Tips
Shopify's API uses GraphQL by default now. The Admin API has moved to GraphQL-first, and rate limits are calculated by query cost rather than simple request counts. Weldable handles this for you, but knowing the model helps when you are debugging why a large catalog query takes longer than expected.
Product variants are separate from products. Each size or color combination is its own variant with its own inventory level, price, and SKU. When your agent updates stock or pricing, make sure you are targeting the variant, not just the parent product.
Use tags for agent-friendly categorization. Shopify tags are free-form strings that your agent can search against. Tagging products with machine-readable labels like seasonal-2026 or clearance makes it much easier for your agent to filter and act on specific product groups.
Order status follows a fixed lifecycle. Orders move through open, closed, and cancelled states. Fulfillment has its own status track: unfulfilled, partially_fulfilled, fulfilled. Your agent should check both when reporting on order health.
